Core Standards and Curriculum GuidesThe Common Core State Standards define academic expectations for each subject and grade level. The Providence Public School District (PPSD) follows these core standards and use them to develop curriculum. The standards can be useful to a tutor's work with his or her tutee in the following ways:

Core Standards and Curriculum GuidesThe Common Core State Standards define academic expectations for each subject and grade level. The Providence Public School District (PPSD) follows these core standards and use them to develop curriculum. The standards can be useful to a tutor's work with his or her tutee in the following ways:
- The standards provide tutors with an accurate picture of the expectations their tutees must meet at school.
- Tutors can see if their tutee is on grade level, and if not, which grade most appropriately correlates with their tutee's abilities.
- Tutors can develop lesson plans for their tutoring sessions by seeing the sequence in which subjects are taught as well as which concepts go together.
